Swineham Open Water Swimming

SWINEHAM LAKE COVID-19 RESPONSE

Swineham Open Water Swimming are committed to preserving the health of our customers and staff. Following the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in the United Kingdom, we have performed contagious-virus specific risk assessments at our venues and have been closed since March.

We have now re-opened our Swineham Open Water Swimming venue, and in line with the latest advice in regard to COVID-19 the following operations plan will be in place:

Compulsory pre-booking of swims

All customers will be required to pre-book onto dedicated time slots via the ACTiO (NOWCA booking app). This can be downloaded from Google Play or The App Store or can be used in your web browser. More details here:

https://nowca.org/actio-app/

or the weblink https://actio.nowca.org/root/home

**Swimmers need to be aware that they are swimming at their own risk, and confirm that they have no illness, injury and are competent open water swimmers**

Payment must be made through the app to ensure no cash or card transactions are required on site. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN BOOKING AS BOOKINGS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE &. NO REFUNDS ARE POSSIBLE FOR CANCELLATIONS ON THE DAY OF THE BOOKED SWIM

In order to be able to guarantee safe distancing we have restricted bookings to 25 people per slot. Time slots will be 1 hour long. 45mins of this will be allowed for swimming and 15 mins given for change over between slots. We ask that you do not arrive earlier than ten minutes before your time slots and if possible do not leave until 5 minutes past the hour, in order to allow the next intake in and prevent crossing in the narrow lane. The exception to this is the last session where you may leave whenever you wish

Swimmers must change at home or by your cars and only approach the scanning table on-the-hour of your time slot once you have changed, carrying only shoes and towel. There will be hand gel for sanitisation available at the entrance/exit.

Our Covid-19 ops plan will be written on a board by the scanning table. All swimmers booked on to the slot will be required to read the briefing regardless of whether they were at a previous swim, in case there have been changes.

The waiting line will require swimmers to queue 2m apart. Swimmers are to be asked not to bring anything with them other than shoes which can be left at the side of the lake, and towels if required. We can provide safe key storage with sanitiser options. You will then scan in and enter the lake immediately.

Access to the water will be closed at ten past the hour at the latest

There will be no late admissions and no refunds after this time, even if the swimmer is changing but late they will have missed the safety briefing. This is to ensure all groups get their maximum time in the water and that that it is safe for both swimmers and staff.

There will be one on-water lifeguard offering tow services ONLY

SWIMMING WILL BE AT THE INDIVIDUALS OWN RISK.

Beginners to open water, those un-acclimatized to cold water, suffering from serious medical conditions in particular related to the heart or those at risk of seizures will be advised not to swim for their own safety and that of our staff.

Swimmers will have up to 45mins to swim around the 500m course, and may do as many laps as wished within their allocated time slot. Swimmers may cut across the course to shorten it if required as long as they always turn right, in order to stay with the direction of travel. All swimmers must exit the water after 45mins. After 40mins, the water safety lifeguard will circuit the course and advise the swimmers that they have five minutes to finish their swim and exit via the Exit Point.

Social-Distancing in the water

Swimmers are instructed to maintain a 2m distance from one another at all times and adjust their speed/ direction accordingly. Congregation around buoys is strictly forbidden.

Swimmers can exit the water at any time within the 45mins

Exit will be via a separate point from entry and must be done whilst there are no other individuals within 2 meters of the end of the exit point.

All changing to be done OFF site or at your vehicle.

No belongings other than shoes and a towel to be left and picked up after swimmers exit.

There will be hand gel for sanitisation available at the entrance/exit.

Walk-Up Policy

There will be no pay-on-the-day or tap-in slots available. All swimmers must pre-book so that we can manage the numbers on site accurately.

Refund Policy

There will be no refunds if an individual fail to show for their booking. Demand for places will be high and so not showing for a slot takes away the opportunity for another member to swim.

A swim will cost £7 per visit, or alternatively you can bulk buy your swims 10 swims for £63.

All swimmers must wear their NOWCA Safety Wristband every time they swim.

DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE LAKE

THERE IS STRICT 10MPH SPEED LIMIT IN THE PRIVATE LANE LEADING TO THE LAKE. VEHICLES ARE MONITORED BY INTERESTED LOCAL PARTIES AND REGISTRATION NUMBERS TAKEN OF VEHICLES NOT OBSERVING THE LIMIT. TWO REPORTS WILL RESULT IN THAT VEHICLE BEING BANNED FROM COMING TO THE LAKE. IF YOU FEEL YOU CANNOT OBSERVE THE 10MPH RESTRICTION FOR THIS SHORT DISTANCE THEN PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE LAKE
