QUEENFORD SUMMER CROSSINGS SERIES - A Series of Challenges at Queenford Lakes
Between the mid June and early September, we will give you a chance to swim the equivalent of the length of 8 iconic swim crossings from across the world on Sunday mornings.
Starting with Corryvreckan at 1.5 km and increasing each time to finish with the Straight of Gibraltar at 14.4 km.
You can choose to enter as many of those as you wish, and so there should be a challenge to fit you whatever level or swim experience you have. You can start small and build it up through the season, stay short this season if you're a beginner, or use longer challenges as training for big endurance swims you might have entered.
We always try to make our event as accessible as possible, however the entry fee of the longer challenges will reflect the fact that the lake will have to open early and/or stay closed to other activities for some time and require more work ahead.
Your entry will include:
- your swim
- a snack post swim
- a memento of your challenge that can show 1 or more swims
- Shorter challenges will take place on the traditional swim loops of our front lake during normal swim sessions, but for longer challenges we might use extended loops or even swim into the back lake to make it more interesting, and earlier start times. All info will be provided for each event.
- Their will be cut off times for each events. If you are unsure you can also challenge yourself to swim as far as you can within the time allowed. Last year a couple of determined swimmer finished their challenge after cut off in the lido.
- There will be a dedicated pontoon area for drinks and snack for fuelling during the longer swims
- This is a challenge and not a timed race event
- These series are not restricted to Queenford Lakes regular swimmers only, but will require a NOWCA membership to enter.
- Entries will strictly close on the Monday before the event to allow for planning and purchasing - no changes after this to avoid waste
- Booking and bright tow floats compulsory
